Today the contractor, Awesome Construction, began work on Project ARRA55555. From this point forward, the city will endeavor to post daily updates on the work performed. These posts will not be considered to be the official record and documentation for the project, but will be given for informational purposes only.
Readers are encouraged to comment on the work, particularly noting any outstanding issues or problems. However comments will be moderated and those commenting will be required to adhere to the commenting policy posted on this site.

The general contractor, Awesome Construction, was on site today moving in the following equipment with a lowboy tractor-trailer: CAT 320D Excavator, John Deere 410J Backhoe/Loader, and a Bobcat S205 Skid-steer. Those working on site included one foreman, one superintendent, 3 laborers, 1 teamster, and 3 operators. All worked from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Crew began removal of pavement from A street to B street along C street.

July 6 2009 - Award of Project
The city council awarded project ARRA55555 at a cost of $305,000 to Awesome Construction out of Transparency, Ill. This action was taken at their regularly scheduled council meeting held at 7 p.m. on July 6, 2009.
Tomorrow the city will issue a Notice of Award and the contracts to the contractor for his execution. Once contracts are received, they will be sent to IDOT for final approval. Then the city will issue a notice to proceed. These actions and associated links will be sent out using the projects Twitter feed.

June 30 2009 - Bid Opening
Today the city opened bids for project ARRA55555. The apparent low bidder was Awesome Construction from Transparency, Illinois. The council will consider the bids at the next regularly scheduled council meeting on July 6, 2009.
June 15, 2009 - Addendum Issued
Today the city issued an addendum to project ARRA55555. All prospective bidders and plan holders will be notified of this addendum and will be required to submit their acknowledgement of such with their bid.
June 2 2009 - Advertisement for Bids
Today, the city began advertising for bids for the city's ARRA55555 project. Interested bidders can pick up a set of plans and specifications at city hall or download a copy of the documents at the city's Website.

The city of Transparency has been awarded $300,000 in ARRA funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation for the purpose of repairing FAU roads in the community. The city's TIP sheet was filed on March 15, 2009, and the public hearing for the project was held on April 1, 2009.
